Guilford Sound hosted a fabulous Vermont Performance Lab residency with Big Dance Theater. Chris Giarmo of BDT worked with local pre-teens as part of a week of explorations for a new piece. It was a fun week here full of energy!
Air Traffic Controller is kind of on fire. They won the Artist on the Verge Contest at NMS (one of the prizes was a week of recording here at Guilford Sound), and they also won best Indie/Alt. Rock song at the Independent Music Awards for their song, “You Know Me.”

Just got back from the New Music Seminar in NYC. Guilford Sound gave away a week of studio time to the winner of their artist on the verge contest, AIR TRAFFIC CONTROLLER. We are excited to have them here and think they’re headed for big things. A close second was Catey Shaw, a rocking all girl punk ukulele band.

We just scored some vintage acoustic guitars–a Gibson Banner Guitar from 1943-1945, and a Martin from 1947. The Martin is nice but there is something sort of magical about the Gibson. The banner guitars were made by women while the men were fighting WWII–so there is that.
But also it just feels right.
